Bright Light Fireworks

A fireworks identity built for the shutter, the billboard and the screen

A mark that has to work at forty miles an hour

Bright Light came to us for the brand before the website. The same mark had to hold on a roadside billboard, survive being cut for a shop shutter, print cleanly on an A5 flyer and still read as an avatar on a phone. We drew the family for that whole run, then built the site at the small end of it.

Billboard artwork announcing the Derby shop opening. The mark is set to read from a moving car, so the detail lives in the outline, not the texture.

Stacked. Signage and anywhere with height to spare.

Wide. Website header, banners, shallow layouts.

Icon. Social avatars and anything under 40 pixels.

Rocket. A graphic to use where the full mark would crowd.

Four lockups plus contrast versions for dark backgrounds and photography, supplied as vector, raster and production artwork with a written guide to choosing between them.

Then it left the screen

A logo is not finished when the PNG looks good. It is finished when a sign maker can cut it, a printer can run it and neither of them has to ring us to ask which file to use.

Handed over so it stays right

The A5 flyer went out as print-ready PDF with 3mm bleed, in two versions, because some printers want crop marks and most portals refuse them. The InDesign source went with it.

Everything ships with a short guide covering which logo to use where, what each file format is for and which flyer PDF to send. The client can brief a printer or a sign maker without us in the room.

  • Vector: AI, EPS, SVG
  • Raster: PNG and WebP at 1x, 2x and 4x
  • Print: PDF/X-4 with bleed, IDML source

The shop window that never shuts

More than a hundred products, searchable by name or the same codes used on the shelves, each with a page, a photograph and video where the shop has one. By the time someone rings or walks in, they already know what they want. The counter takes the sale; the site does everything before it.

  • Five categories
  • Search by name or code
  • A page per product
  • Video where the shop has it
  • Two shops, opening times and directions
  • Safety guidance

Run from behind the counter

The busiest six weeks of the year are the worst possible time to be waiting on a developer. Everything that moves during the season sits behind one login in Payload and takes effect straight away.

Drag it into place

The order of the range page is the order of the rows. Let go of a row and the live site has already changed. There is nothing to save and nothing to publish.

Unpublish, don't delete

A sold-out line comes off the site and stays in the list, photograph and price intact, ready to go back up next season. Nobody has to retype last year's range.

No photo without a description

Uploads ask for the words a screen reader says out loud, and refuse to save without them. Accessibility holds as the range changes, not just on the day we launched.

Also in there

  • Drafts, published states and twenty saves of history that can restore an earlier version
  • Product codes matching the shelf references staff already use, and prices held in pence
  • Five homepage category photographs the shop can swap without touching the layout
  • Two permission levels, so counter staff can edit the range but not the site settings

Absolutely exceptional service from start to finish! I couldn't be happier with the website Rob created for us. Rob and Luca completely understood what we wanted and managed to bring our vision to life even better than we imagined.

The website looks professional, modern, clean and incredibly well put together. The attention to detail has been outstanding, and you can clearly see the time, effort and expertise that has gone into every part of it.

Communication throughout the whole process was brilliant. Nothing was ever too much trouble, changes were handled quickly, and they were always helpful, patient and full of great ideas.

The finished website has genuinely exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for someone reliable, talented and professional to build your website, I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Brand first, then the site it lives on

Most of this job was decided before a page was designed. Get the mark right for every place it has to appear and the website becomes the easy part.
